Plan outfits for a first city visit
Start with your itinerary and your comfort. A city name alone doesn’t tell you what to wear.
- Write down the activities that shape clothing choices: long walks, meetings, dinner reservations, performances or religious sites. Check specific venue guidance where relevant.
- Check the forecast near departure, including rain and evening temperature.
- Choose walking shoes first, then build combinations around them.
- Look for pieces that work in several outfits, while allowing for washing, drying and personal preference.
- Lay the outfits out or try them on. Make sure each plan has a complete option, including the layer or bag you need.
- Review what is actually going into your luggage. Keep possible purchases separate from items you already own and can pack.
Create the trip, give each day its outfit and review the packing list. A saved outfit tells you what to pack; checking off each piece tells you it’s in the bag.
Give each day its outfit, then check off the pieces as they go in the bag.
